Tories revise high speed rail plans

The transport secretary has backed a "Y-shaped" route for a new high-speed rail line with two separate legs linking the West Midlands to Manchester and Leeds, rejecting previous Tory plans for an "S-shaped" line that would have passed through Birmingham, up to Manchester and across to Leeds.
