Senior civil servant joins line-up for this week's public land conference

The Department for Communities and Local Government official overseeing its land and housing delivery programme will this week give the keynote address at a conference exploring the potential to use public land for development.

Joanna Key, head of land and housing delivery at DCLG, will give the opening speech at the Public Land Release 360 conference on 23 June at the ILEC Conference Centre in west London.

The conference, organised by Planning, will explore the practical challenges related to securing public land for development.

Also speaking at the event will be two public land owners who will discuss how they envisage land release: Scott Anderson, senior property development manager at Transport for London, and Geoff Robson, asset strategy and portfolio director at the Ministry of Defence's Defence Infrastructure Organisation.

Conference delegates will hear case studies of successful housing delivery on public land, including how housing is being directly commissioned from small builders by the government on publicly-owned land in Northstowe, and how public land is being used to deliver 1,700 self and custom-build properties in Oxfordshire.
