Suffolk Coastal District Council (SCDC) has approved plans to develop 100 homes on a site overlooking Sutton Hoo’s historic cemeteries. Developer Active Urban Property Group’s proposal for the former council office site in Melton Hill, Woodbridge, includes apartments and townhouses, as well as a community building and retail space, all in a parkland setting. The design by Hoopers Architects includes underground car parking, with pedestrian and cycling routes leading to a meadow.

Plans to upgrade Hemel Hempstead’s The Marlowes Shopping Centre with a multi-screen cinema and additional retail and leisure space have won the green light. Developer Capital & Regional is aiming to revitalise the centre’s retail and leisure offer to align with Dacorum Borough Council’s town centre regeneration programme.

Allerdale Council has given the go ahead to the next phase of homes in the redevelopment of the former Corus steelworks site in Workington. Housebuilder Persimmon Homes plans to build more than 650 homes on the site, and won approval for the first 225 homes last year. The latest consent is for 91 homes.
