Thurrock Council has approved plans to regenerate Purfleet town centre with up to 2,850 homes and other facilities. The proposal has been brought forward by Purfleet Centre Regeneration (PCRL), a joint venture of developer Urban Catalyst and Swan Housing Association. In addition to the homes, the proposal will deliver a new town centre with upgraded rail station, a creative industries complex, retail space, restaurants and amenities including a primary school and medical centre. The masterplan, by architect KSS, also includes new public spaces and improved access to the frontage to the river Thames.

Gleeson Homes has won consent for a 119 home scheme on a former industrial site in Whitworth, in Lancashire. The housebuilder plans to develop two, three and four bedroom houses on the Spring Mill site, which has been derelict for more than a decade.
