STOP PRESS: Changes to system due to be unveiled

Changes to the system that enables local planning authorities to secure community benefits from major new developments were due to be unveiled after Regeneration & Renewal went to press this week. The Government's proposals would involve developers submitting large planning applications choosing either to follow the current system of negotiation, or to pay a fixed tariff. It is likely that the new charges would be levied as a percentage rate, linked to the size of development.
