Brighton barracks designs released

Four designs have been unveiled to regenerate a former Ministry of Defence site in Brighton. The Brighton & Hove Regeneration Partnership last week launched an exhibition of the shortlisted candidates competing to redevelop Preston Barracks (see visualisations, above), purchased from the MOD last year. Located close to Brighton and Sussex universities, the 2.2ha site has been earmarked for a combination of employment and residential uses. It is anticipated that it will provide space for up to 1,000 jobs and 260 residential units, 40 per cent of which are likely to be affordable. The schemes have been submitted by CDHA, RokEagle, Urban Life and Urban Catalyst.
