EDITORIAL: Redevelopment will flag without extra resources

The idea that England is blessed with a treasury of easily developable brownfield land is a myth. Figures released last week (see News p3) show that only a third of the 66,000 hectares that could be redeveloped are free from major regulatory constraints or commercial drawbacks. The 22,000 that remain would only provide for three years worth of sites at current rates of brownfield development.
