Sunderland reveals plans for city centre

Detailed plans for the regeneration of the south of Sunderland's city centre were published last week. The plans for Holmeside Triangle include a new department store, shops, cafes, restaurants and apartments. Urban regeneration company Sunderland Arc estimates that the scheme will attract £135 million of investment and create up to 1,200 jobs. David Walker, head of operations at the Arc, said the plans will show that the area is "going to become outstanding, both in its architecture and the quality of life it can offer".
