PHYSICAL REGENERATION NEWS: Plaistow shortlist announced
A shortlist of architects has been drawn up for the redevelopment of the Brooks Road Estate in Plaistow, east London. More than 70 concepts were submitted and three winning designs will be chosen - one for the estate's low-rise dwellings and one each for the two tower blocks, Nicholls Point (see visualisation of one of the proposed schemes, above) and Tanner Point, by the end of the year. The first phase of the £113 million redevelopment programme began in June with the demolition of the 15-storey Watts Point block. A further 56 flats at Bates Point, 12 shops and 64 maisonettes are also being pulled down.
