Plans for a £200 million mixed-use riverside development in south Tyneside were announced last week. The Middle Docks site in East Holborn, South Shields, acquired in 2001, is being developed by Branmore Investments, which applied for outline planning permission earlier this year. Plans include the reclamation of the East Holborn brownfield site, the construction of a marina, up to 1,000 homes, leisure facilities and a river taxi service.
