ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEF: United to oppose airport expansion

London MPs, MEPs, peers and councillors united last week to oppose the expansion of Heathrow airport, mooted in a government White Paper on the future of air transport. They cited pollution, noise, and the quality of life of local residents as reasons for limiting the airport's size. They were attending a meeting at the Commons sponsored by the London Borough of Hillingdon, where Heathrow is located, and anti-aircraft noise campaign Hacan Clear Skies.
