PRE-BUDGET REPORT NEWS: Sports club cash boost

Support for amateur sports clubs will be boosted as part of the Government's drive to increase healthy living and community-based activities. Clubs which become Community Amateur Sports Clubs will be entitled to 80 per cent rates relief, worth between £1,000-£3,000 to each club. In addition, the thresholds at which community clubs are exempt from corporation tax will be doubled to £50,000, which Brown claimed will leave the vast majority of clubs "exempt from any such tax altogether".
