ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEF: Transport package unveiled

A £147 million package of transport funding for London's boroughs was unveiled last week by mayor Ken Livingstone. The 2004-05 fund will be used for road maintenance, safety schemes and initiatives to promote walking, cycling and town centre improvements. Allocations will be based on bids made by boroughs in their spending plans. For more information see www.london.gov.uk.
