News briefs: Environment Agency publishes a map of flood risk

The Environment Agency published a map of flood risk across England and Wales this week. It shows that 100,000 fewer properties fall within the area - with a one in 100 chance of flooding from rivers, or a one in 200 chance of flooding from the sea - than previously thought. The map's launch marks the start of the agency's annual awareness campaign to alert the public to the risk of flooding. To see the map, visit www.environment-agency.gov.uk.
