Park plan revealed

A masterplan has been unveiled for Central Park in Darlington, one of the most important developments in the region, according to the town's urban regeneration company. Tees Valley Regeneration's plans for the 30ha site next to the railway station include 600 new homes, a new home for Darlington College, four and five-storey office buildings, a sculpture park, hotel and conference centre, and a range of leisure and community facilities. The URC believes that the development could create up to 2,000 jobs and bring in £170 million of investment. Site preparation for Central Park is under way, and work is scheduled to begin in December.
