Letter that led to a different trade

I started working in Brierley Hill in Dudley when the family fruiterer business opened on the high street in 1988. Due to the continuing decline of the local economy as a by-product of the collapse of the area's heavy industry, a group of independent high street retailers formed the Brierley Hill Traders Association in 1996, and I was elected as founding chair.

by Shawn Riley, enterprise and development manager at Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership
