Student homes

One of the largest student campuses in London was officially opened last week. Built on a former railway gravel yard, Westfield Student Village in Mile End, east London (above), has more than 2,000 bed spaces with ensuite facilities and a canalside cafe. Located alongside the regenerated Mile End Park, the campus has a facade of brick, copper and stainless steel. Tower Hamlets Area Partnership is hoping that the influx of students will create a more mixed population in Mile End. Professionals staying there during conference season are also expected to bring business to the area's pubs, bars and shops.
