Birth of my role in the community

My turning point came when I left work to have my first child. Having lived on Easterside Estate in Middlesbrough for five years prior to her birth, I was shocked when, with time on my hands, I began to venture further than the local shops, which, although an eyesore, had served their purpose for milk and bread.
