Pay gap between men and women narrows slightly

The pay gap between men and women narrowed slightly between 2003 and 2004, government statistics released last week reveal. The Office for National Statistics data shows that women's median hourly pay rose to 85.7 per cent of men's in April 2004 from 85.4 in April 2003.
