Green light for power station plan
The redevelopment of the iconic Battersea Power Station is to go ahead after the Government Office for London (GoL) decision not to call-in the proposals. Despite being approved by Wandsworth Council in south London, GoL was prevented from formally approving the plans after receiving objections from a third party. Developer Parkview International plans to turn the former power station on the banks of the River Thames into two hotels, a theatre, office and residential accommodation including 700 one to three bedroom apartments (see visualisation, above). The developer believes that the scheme will create thousands of new jobs in East Battersea.
