Redevelopment of Stanhope Estate in South Ashford

The redevelopment of the Stanhope Estate in South Ashford kicked off last week with the demolition of the five-storey Bredgar and Luddenham blocks of flats. The Stanhope estate was built in the 1960s as overspill housing and has experienced difficulties integrating with the rest of the town. Ashford Borough Council expects development work to begin in 2005.
