The Gamling Bill passes through second reading
The Gambling Bill passed through its second reading this week, but the Government's plans to liberalise gambling laws were hit by a revolt of 29 Labour backbenchers. The Government's majority was halved to 74 as the bill was passed by 286 votes to 212. The bill faces an uncertain future as its opponents seek to make concessions during its committee stage.
