Editorial: Chancellor's last chance to create enterprising UK?
Launching the first national 'Enterprise Week' this week, chancellor Gordon Brown said: "My mission for Britain is a country where enterprise is truly open to all, a nation united in encouraging and celebrating innovation and enterprise." In the light of what he then went on to say, such a promised land seems a long way off: overall, business creation in the UK is half what it is in the US, and in some areas can be as little as one tenth.
