Award for east London creative centre
A centre for the arts and creative industries in east London has won an award for partnership working at this year's British Urban Regeneration Association (Bura) awards. The award, sponsored by government regeneration agency English Partnerships, recognised the Hothouse project in London Fields for producing a building of architectural quality on a low budget and for bringing together 12 different partners to fund the centre. Built on a former scrapyard site near railway arches, the centre houses the Free Form Arts Trust and offers affordable work and exhibition space to artists and design professionals. The next stage of the project will create more workspace, a cafe and public art archive as well as three live/work units. For more information on the winner and shortlisted projects, contact Bura (tel) 020 7539 4030.
