Some local authorities in Wales to have deprivation grant increased

Local authorities serving the most deprived communities in Wales are to have their deprivation grant increased to enable them to deliver key public services, the Welsh Assembly Government announced this week. Finance and local government minister Sue Essex said the five per cent increase would ensure that councils could continue to provide key services "without having to place an undue burden on those least able to pay".
