Improvement to strategic roads confirmed this week
A £1 billion programme of improvements to strategic roads was confirmed this week. The money, to be spent over the next three years, covers most of the motorways and the key non-motorway roads in England. The cash is in addition to the £900 million regional roads programme. Transport secretary Alistair Darling said the package would provide real improvements, with a total investment by the Highways Agency of £1.9 billion over the next three years.
