Minister drops in for breakfast

Welsh finance, local government and public service minister Sue Essex joined pupils at Hengoed Primary School in Caerphilly for breakfast last week. The breakfast was the one of the first held at the school as part of the Primary School Free Breakfast Initiative, which aims to give pupils a healthy start to the day. Headteacher at the school, Janine Brill, said: "The Free Breakfast Initiative has only been running a short while at the school, but there have already been positive signs that attendance and punctuality of pupils has improved." The initiative forms part of Health Challenge Wales which aims to provide a national focus and sustained commitment to improving health in Wales.
