Let the community take more control

With the publication of the recent education white paper, I've finally realised where Tony is taking us. Our probation officers could soon be working for Securicor; our regeneration people for Bovis. The market is becoming the only game in town. The regeneration market is still dominated by the public sector - with the private sector gaining fast. Communitarians must now help our sector to get a slice of the action. The third sector is better value for the taxpayer because it strengthens local democracy and builds social capital, but we are not yet good enough at strutting our stuff.
