Big Brother scheme bids to deter louts

CCTV cameras in Middlesbrough city centre have been fitted with loudspeakers so that operators monitoring the cameras can make announcements or intervene to deter anti-social behaviour, such as littering. There are currently seven cameras with speakers and a further three are planned by the end of the year.
