Appointment at Sport England

Sports development agency Sport England has named Derek Mapp as its new chairman. Taking over from Lord Carter, Mapp will be responsible for encouraging greater participation in community and grassroots sport in the run-up to the 2012 Olympics. Mapp has spent five years as chair of the East Midlands Development Agency and is the founder of Leapfrog Nurseries.
