Planning refused for Thames Gateway development

Planning permission for a 571-home waterfront development in the Thames Gateway has been refused by the communities secretary. After developer Wimpey Homes appealed, Ruth Kelly upheld Thurrock Council's decision to reject the plans for Purfleet in Essex. Kelly said the application lacked sufficient detail for such a vital site.
