Ideas have their moments in the sun - points at which they become fashionable, in the same way that heroin chic, size-zero catwalk models, the Vengaboys or Ugg boots became fashionable. Everyone aspires to be them, or own them, or bask in the reflected image of coolness that they confer. Then they are gone and some time later, we look back and think: "What on earth was that all about? How could we?"
