Shahid Malik defends Government's Prevent programme

Communities minister Shahid Malik has defended the Government's Prevent programme to tackle violent extremism against recent allegations in the Guardian that the scheme is being used to gather intelligence about potential terror suspects. Malik said: "There is no hidden agenda to stigmatise or criminalise any individual or to target any community (in the programme)."
