Appointment as Social Fund commissioner for the UK

Karamjit Singh is to become Social Fund commissioner for the UK, an independent role overseeing the government fund that provides emergency and one-off lump sum payments, grants and loans for people on low incomes. Singh will take up the three-year post from 1 December. As a result, he will be stepping down as chairman of an NHS trust in the West Midlands and as a commissioner with regulator the Electoral Commission.
