Five Welsh councils have teamed up with six colleges to launch a £32 million scheme to help young people in south-west Wales who are underachieving at school, failing to turn up to lessons or are at risk of dropping out of college. The Engage initiative is backed by £17 million from the European Social Fund, and aims to use vocational training, one-to-one support and other approaches to motivate 14- to 19-year-olds to stay in education.
