Adonis unveils high-speed rail route plans

London will be linked to Birmingham, Manchester, the East Midlands, Sheffield and Leeds, but not Newcastle, Liverpool or Scotland, via a new £30 billion Y-shaped high-speed rail network proposed by the transport secretary this morning.
